Is lunatimer free?
lunatimer is free to start today, with no account and no ads. We're building optional premium features for the future — you'll always be told clearly what's included before anything changes.
Do I need to create an account?
No. lunatimer works with no sign-up at all — just open it and start. Optional accounts for syncing your presets across devices are planned for the future; you'll never be required to use them.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After your first visit, lunatimer is saved to your device and keeps working without an internet connection. It's a Progressive Web App, so it behaves like an installed app.
Is my data private?
Your presets, tasks and settings are stored locally in your browser and are never uploaded to a server. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall usage in aggregate. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I install lunatimer on my phone or computer?
Yes. On mobile, use your browser's “Add to Home Screen” option; on desktop, look for the install icon in the address bar. lunatimer then opens in its own window, just like a native app.
How does the Meditation Timer work?
Drag the circular dial to set any duration, or tap to type an exact time. You can add optional interval bells that chime partway through, choose from several warm bell tones, and save your favorite setups as presets.
What is the Pomodoro technique?
It's a simple method of working in focused sprints separated by short breaks, with a longer break after several sprints. lunatimer cycles through Focus, Short break and Long break automatically and tracks your completed sessions. You can adjust every length to suit you.
What's the difference between “hard” and “soft” timebox tasks?
A hard task stops the moment its time runs out, so you move on cleanly. A soft task lets you add +5 or +10 minutes when time is up, for when a little extra focus helps.
Will my timer keep running if I lock my screen?
lunatimer keeps accurate time based on the clock, so when you return it shows the correct remaining time. For reliable end-of-timer sounds, keep the tab open and your device awake where possible.
